Kyarn is a typical topaz dragon; he is short-tempered and antisocial, with the tendency to be just plain rude when confronted by people he doesn't like…which is pretty much everybody. Around people he is well-acquainted with he can be civil, but the only person he shows any real friendship toward is his rider, Heero. It's a rather well-matched pair, seeing as how the rider is not much more socially gifted than the dragon.

Topaz dragons are exceptionally intelligent, like most other dragons. They strongly and intensely dislike intruders; however, they prefer to avoid combat, when they can. When driven to combat, Kyarn prefers to attack with claws and teeth, rather than his breath weapon. Said weapon, when he chooses to use it, is a cone of dehydration, sucking the moisture and energy out of any living creature caught in its blast radius. These weapons, coupled with Kyarn's natural belligerent tendencies, make for a very formidable foe, indeed.

If ever there were a case of two negatives canceling each other out to make a positive, this is it. Though both Kyarn and Heero seem unlikely to ever be considered social butterflies, together they might have the strength to work as a team to overcome their naturally prickly exterior tendencies, and even become sociable among others...if they can find the proper incentive to work toward change.
