The brass dragons comprise the companions of the Maguanac Corps, the elite squadron of guardians that protect the duchy where Quatre hails. They can be crass and obnoxious, and have a great love of dry, arid regions, which makes the duchy a perfect place for them to live. Unlike most other dragon species, they have thrived under the protection of Quatre's father, and where other species have begun to dwindle, their numbers are at full strength.

Brass dragons are egotistical, and love having all attention on them. They also have sarcastic wits, making use of every opportunity to get in as much ribbing as possible. One of their battle skills is the taunt, and they are one of the few species of dragons who will willingly speak with any creature sentient enough to understand them.

Brass dragons have a breath weapon that is a cloud of blistering desert heat, which quickly and effectively neutralizes all opponents caught in the blast. Like other metallic dragons, they also have a second breath weapon, this one being a cloud of sleep gas, the effects of which is self-explanatory. Between those two weapons, and the fact that the brass dragons also have turned the concept of the taunt into an art form as well as a weapon, make them a difficult opponent to face. The fact that it is extremely rare to catch one Maguanac brass alone, and will most likely face a number of brass dragons at once, only compounds the difficulties presented when coming up against a brass dragon in battle.
