Ok… well this is the appendix that I promised…
I hope this helps anyone who was having difficulties with the story line… at least, that's what it's meant to do.
Here goes ;)
Heero = earth, courage, duty, war
Duo = life and death, foresight, shadows, resurrection, sensuality
Trowa = air, desire, storms, reason
Quatre = time, healing/disease, revelation, mercy, light
Wufei = Fire, vengeance, justice, deed
Zechs = water, envy, faith, pride
Heero / Agares - Uriel
Duo / Abaddon - Michael
Trowa / Zakkiel - Raphael
Quatre / Astaroth - Gabriel
Wufei / Arioch - Zerrachiel
Zechs / Leviathan - Raguel
The Fallen are precisely that, and technically the evil side in the story. They have the ability to morph, though I realize up until now they have rarely shown this. They aren't omnipotent and there is no god in the story.
Each soul of a deceased Fallen needs to be caught before the soul is too long out of the body. Once it is freed, through ritual, into the Aethyrs, the soul seeks for an appropriate host. In their past it was very rare that the host took long to find, or that more than one or two of the Fallen required a new body. However at the last fight, four of them perished, Duo barely survived and Quatre was left with the task of freeing the souls by himself.
Once the host is found it will take seed. Should more than one host be required, they are usually born within a few years of each other. There are certain elements required to wake others, and if one of them fails, Duo must endeavor to use that element to the extent needed to wake the Fallen in question.
Hosts can usually only be awoken through hatred since the Fallen are technically evil. As far as the Fallen know, the hatred must be directed at Duo so that he can Wake them, but considering there have never been any other circumstances, it is not known with certainty. Duo usually causes hatred through destroying something that the Fallen's host holds dear. It is the only way he can get the focus to shift to him and cause prolonged hatred.
The durmanis are a well of power. They have powers of their own, which include morphing but also extend to other abilities. There are different breeds, from knowledge gatherers and psionicists to melders and blood lusters (no.. not quite like a Vampire). Although they have their own abilities, they are mainly a well of power. This means that they can take in a lot more power and store it than they will ever be capable of using. This power can be used by other demons, or Fallen. They come from the darker side of reality, to which the Fallen also belong.
Mal'akh is Hebrew for Messenger… so yes… that name was definitely thanks to CYT *glomps* But anyway. Messengers are pretty obvious. In Treize's case he is a demon of manipulation, which pretty much fit in with how I perceive Treize. Yep the Archangels also have a messenger but I haven't picked who it's going to be yet. We'll meet him in about chapter hmmmm 22 or 23.
A very important aspect of both light and dark. There are many different ways for them to gain, receive, and store power.
Self: Through their own power. This means pulling on their abilities and powers and drawing strength through these. Ie: Shadow… Duo can pull power from shadows no matter where they are or how they come about. He can also pull from death etc etc.
Reserves: They can pool excess power in reserves once their own are full, to be depleted when needed. A durmanis is also a pool of power to be drawn from.
Borrow: Power can also be borrowed from another beings life force. If it is consented, it is borrowing. If it is not, then it is stolen. Both are possible.
Blood-bond: Not something employed by the Archangels. Involves the siphoning of blood from willing beings into a main, and strengthens and multiplies the power available.
Soul-raze: Used more by the Archangels than the Fallen, it is a way to siphon power from a beings soul or mind. Very close to mind- rape for it is stronger when taken and not consented to.
Okay, now for confession time. Although I have taken basic names and abilities from the Archangels and Fallen, I have also taken some writer's liberty with developing them. Below are the descriptions of the Archangels, which I first used to create MY Archangels. Now it should probably be said that they've morphed a little and been twisted to make my story what it is… but overall, it gives a general idea of who they are.
Michael - As the angel of final reckoning and the weigher of souls, he holds in his hand the scales of justice. *This helps give some insight into his character… into why he would be the power hungry, arrogant being that I made him
Gabriel - One of the 2 highest ranking angels. He is the angel of annunciation, resurrection, mercy, vengance, death, and revelation. He is refered to as "heavens golden-winged herald"Gabriel. *It is probably worth noting that I changed my Gabriel a little, else he would have far too many abilities when compared to the other angels and fallen, however the abilities allowed me to complete the formation of Duo and Quatre's own. I guess it also helps Gabriel's confusion at his own place and identity.
Uriel - He is also known to be the one who will bring forth the fallen and seat them on the judgement seat set before god. *This helped to lend Uriel his self-confidence.
Zerrachiel - Zerachiel is a presiding angel of the sun. He is refered to as `he who keep watch'. This would place him the camp of the Grigori (more on the grigori at bottom). *In keeping with his nature as a watcher, Zerr rarely speaks.
Raphael - He is overseer of the evening winds, the tree of life in the Garden of Eden. He also ranks as one of the highest angels and belongs to several orders within the celestial host. *I found this made him a little more sociable than the rest of the Archangels… and so that is how he appears.
Raguel - Raguel is an angel of earth, a guard of the 2nd heaven. He takes "vengeance on the world of luminaries" which means that for cause he brings other angels to account. He has a trumpet that he sounds for the angels of cold and snow and ice to bring together every kind of wrath for those that stand on the left. *In a way it made me think that this ability would allow Rag to be the organizer of the bunch. If he can lead vengeance on the world and hold others to account, it kind of goes hand in hand.
For the story outline… you're just going to have to read it ;)
Hope this helps a little bit.
